Saturday, June 9, 2018 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The neighborhood of West 7th north to its hills, between Jefferson and Randolph This year's tour features about 15 gardens in the area of Jefferson/West 7th/Randolph/35E. Start at the Fort Road Federation's office (974 West 7th Street) to pick up your tour guide, peruse the plant sale, chat with Master Gardeners, and check out the St. Paul Park's Bee Cart. Plant sales help to pay for the tour. Invite your friends and neighbors to a delightful day!
The tour's guide includes a map of the gardens, but also the history of this neighborhood from about 1850. The commercial buildings were built by Czech and German immigrants from that year, residences upstairs, businesses/storefronts down. Building history not only includes businesses but also genealogy and immigrant history of owners and merchants.
New event this year! Two days before we will have a special presentation at the renovated North Garden Theater on pollinators by David Crawford, who worked for the DNR until he retired. His photography is fantastic and extensive on the variety of pollinators. The Importance, Care, and Feeding of Native Pollinators Thursday, June 7, 2018 7-8 p.m. North Garden Theater, 929 West 7th Street
