Fed index/home

Since its first months in 1978, the Federation has prioritized development of the housing stock of its neighborhoods.  Here are a few of its successful projects:

The Goodrich Housing is an affordable 18 unit rental development owned and developed by Twin Cities Housing Development Corporation and the West 7th/Fort Road Federation.

The Brewery Breakthrough Project is a 44 unit development that was developed by the Federation with funding assistance from the City of Saint Paul, Minnesota Housing Finance Agency, Metropolitan Livable Communities program, and the Saint Paul STAR program.

The project was designed for various incomes and livings styles and includes new and rehabilitated single family housing, new townhouse units and restoration of the Funk Mansion.

Included in the development is the 22 unit River Heights Townhomes developed by Brighton Development Corporation and the Federation.

In 2003, 1000 Friends of Minnesota awarded the Federation a Smart Growth award for the Brewery Project.

The Superior Street Cottages contain 23 senior citizen rental units developed in conjunction with Lyngblomsten, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and the Federation.

Superior Street Cottages provides living opportunities to West 7th seniors who desire to continue living in the community but no longer want to maintain their single family homes.

In the 1870s - 1880s the homes in Irvine Park reflected its residents wealth and sophisticated taste. In 1970 96 percent of the area's housing was classified as blighted, and the Federation stepped in to organize rehabilitation and convince City Hall that it was worth saving.  It is now considered one of St. Paul's crown jewels.
