Companion fame, and noted jazz musician, will celebrate Mardi Gras in the
West End in celebration of the hall's 125th anniversary! It will feature not
only his great music (2-5 p.m.) but also a New Orleans-style tea dance and
classic funeral march, and celebratory food and beverages for sale in our
CSPS Hall, 383 Michigan. Proceeds benefit restorations for the historic

YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program
The full year program begins Monday, February 13, 6 pm with 16 weekly
sessions followed by 8 monthly sessions. The Program uses a
group-based lifestyle intervention designed especially for people at high
risk of developing type 2 diabetes. It has been proven to cut
participants’ chances of developing the disease by more than half. For more information call

April 19: Therapeutic Pool 4:00-5:00 The soothing warmth and buoyancy of
warm water makes it an ideal environment for aching joints. Immersing
yourself in warm water raises body temperature, causing blood vessels to
dilate thus increasing circulation! The Therapeutic Pool is 95 degrees and a
gentle way to exercise joints and muscles. This is an open swim with no
instructor, lifeguard is on duty. Fee: $42 14 Sessions. Register at the

YOU Can Do Yoga! NEW TIME! 9:30-10:30 a.m. Third Age Yoga is a sensitive
approach to yoga for those of us who may have felt that yoga wasn't for us.
Do you think your physical limitations or age would prevent you from doing
yoga? Are you afraid you'll hurt yourself? Or have you wanted to try yoga
but were afraid you would feel out of place or embarrassed in a yoga class?
In Third Age Yoga, you'll learn how to move comfortably and safely to
increase your flexibility, build strength and increase balance. In addition,
you'll practice a variety of breathing and relaxation techniques to invite
inner calm, increase your lung capacity, and refresh your body and mind.

Improve Your Brain Health 10:15-11:15 In a University of Alabama study of
nearly 3,000 older men and women, those who participated in 10 60-to
75-minute sessions of brain-boosting exercise sharpened their mental
abilities so much that their brains performed like those of people more than
10 years younger. Join us and learn a few new games that improve brain
health and try some brain boosting foods – take home some tips on how you
can keep your brain healthy! Refreshments will be provided. No charge. Call

the differences between a cellphone and a smartphone, the kinds of phones
and their costs. In addition we’ll look at the applications that make the
phone useful for you and resources you can use to decide if you need a

Thursday, February 23: 55-Alive Refresher 9:00-11:00 This classroom
training program is designed to help persons 50 and older improve their
driving skills. Course completion is required to initiate auto insurance
discounts. Auto insurance companies in most states provide a multiyear
discount to AARP graduates! Instructors are trained volunteers. This class
is for those who have completed the 8-hour class and need to be
re-certified. Please feel free to bring a snack or lunch. Fee: $15, for AARP
members (must present your AARP to receive discount) $17 for non-AARP
